HQL — Hyper Query Language

HQL is a typed functional language for querying and computing over structured knowledge. Querying is one capability: the intended language can also construct values, evaluate functions, transform data, validate constraints, and return typed results. Its direction is closer to Rust, Kusto, Scala, Haskell, or even Lean, rather than to SQL. The language cards live under doc/wiki/hql/.

HQL operates on a typed model of docs, cards, metadata, document structure, namespaces, relations, and knowledge graphs. Sources reach the language through extensions, and HyperMarkDown is one of them: an .hmd file and an .md file are both documents, and a card is the document that represents a piece of knowledge rather than the one written in a particular format. See hmd-integration and design-direction. But we also work with YAML/JSON documents as Collection<Data>.

The working bootstrap evaluates Int, Float and Bool literals and same-type addition. It has no knowledge-source integration yet. See the system declarations and hql/design-status for what is designed but not built.
